Analysis of Causes of Excessive Carbon Brush Wear in Safety Sliding Contact Line Current Collector

Recommended by DARUI Electric

A customer reported, thatthe safety sliding contact linecurrent collector carbon brushes wear out too quickly, and they have to be replaced every two days on average

I found this quite puzzling,so I told him,it must be a problem with the installation of the crane sliding contact line, and I asked him to check several possible problem areas, and now let's analyze the causes of excessive carbon brush wear in the safety sliding contact line current collector:

1) When installing the current collector bracket, the distance between the centerline of the current collector bracket and the lower plane of the crane sliding contact line is not appropriate

This leads to excessive carbon brush wear, for single-pole sliding contact lines, the height between the centerline of the light-duty current collector bracket and the lower plane of the sliding contact line should be maintained at157MM

For heavy-duty current collector brackets, the height between the centerline and the lower plane of the crane sliding contact line should be maintained at around182MM.

2) The installation of the current collector bracket is not firm, causing the current collector to shake during operation, which accelerates carbon brush wear

3) The sliding contact line itself is not straight, with uneven joints, causing the carbon brush to impact and wear excessively

4) The carbon brush itself has quality issues, such as insufficient hardness or poor material

5) The spring pressure of the current collector is too high, causing excessive friction between the carbon brush and the sliding contact line

6) The environment has excessive dust or corrosive gases, which can also accelerate carbon brush wear

If you encounter similar problems, you can check according to the above points, and I believe it will help you
